Yet Another New Project

I know what you are thinking. This girl needs a new project. I am happy to oblige!  I haven't started it yet, but this one has been percolating for a while, and I want to make sure I post the links to the path that got me to this idea, because I am going to need them in the future.  It is just an idea so it is subject to change, but here are the thoughts that are leading me to it, in no particular order. I am not going to be using their pictures, so this post will just have pictures from my own archives of things I have made, which probably won't help you very much in figuring out where I am going with this.

Do you remember Life of Plenty quilt? It was about that time when I was making that quilt that I kept seeing all of these beautiful quilts that included embroidery with the piecing.

Things like Leann's Journey of a Quilter and the Life is Beautiful quilt pattern. These patterns are expensive and I figured I could get the mood of the quilt using my own embroidery.

I have been following Spirit Cloth on Bloglovin'.  Jude posts beautiful, relaxing stitcheries. Just taking some pieces of fabric and adding some stitches. These aren't projects, but simply little pieces that bring joy and peace.

There is also Wendy at the Constant Quilter who makes beautiful projects. She shared her tutorial for how to make potholder quilts. A potholder quilt is basically made up of blocks that are made as individual quilts, quilted and bound, and then joined together.

Next up is this video on Stitching Meditations by Liz Kettle. It explains what Jude has been doing.  Just stitching for no purpose except to meditate and relax. She also shows you she makes a meditation piece. Apparently Stitch Meditations is quite a movement, and there are lots of quilters who do this for their 100 day projects and beyond.

There are a lot of tutorials for quilt as you go hexagons, and there are several quilters who are using hexagons for their 2020 crazy quilting challenge.

There is also Jenni of Elefantz and Allie Horton who generously share their beautiful stitchery patterns. There is Kathy who hosts the Slow Sunday Stitching link every week.

All of this is just to say that I am going to start a stitchery project, probably made into hexagons using the potholder, quilt-as-you go method.  It might be one hexagon or a whole bunch. The project will be done as each hexagon is done, so I will be able to stop at any time without guilt.  No 100 or 365 day project.  It will happen when it happens. It will be as many hexagons big as it wants to be.

Week 5 of 15 Minutes to Stitch

This week, I finished the Vintage Holiday quilt and worked on the borders for the improv rail fence quilt.  For some silly reason I thought the border wouldn't take very long, but with pressing, and decision making, and side tracks to work on cutting scraps and dreaming about other quilts, it is taking a long time.

15 Minute sessions of stitching this week:  7 out of 7
15 Minute sessions of stitching this year:  34 out of 34 sessions
