Favorite Photos from May

Once a month (or less), I look into my folder of photos I have taken during the month, and show you my favorites.  As usual, I tend to look up at the sky and down on the ground, with an occasional glimpse straight ahead.

Here are my favorites from May.

So many maple tree helicopters flying around this day. They came down all at once this year.

The rest of these photos were taken in Austin, Texas.

These beautiful birds are grackles. They are loud.

Interesting bird! I had to look him up and I believe it is more accurately a Great-tailed Grackle (as opposed to the common grackle with a shorter tail). That posture with the bill pointing up is to scare off other males (or maybe humans?) according to my Guide to the Backyard Birds of North America.

The fist cloud picture is what 'we' in New England call a mackerel sky. Here it usually means that the day after tomorrow it will rain(or snow). Mary Reynolds, Searsportquilter@gmail.com

I am new to this Link-up so have enjoyed meeting new photography friends. Yes the Grackle is an ugly bird and very loud and noisy. They are not favorites in Texas, but very common. Thank you for sharing the beauty around you this month of May.

Pretty pictures of the sky! You really caught the texture of the clouds in that first one!

They would be my favorites, too! Love the artistry on the walkway.
