Index Card Portrait

I am still making the index cards and wanted to show you the one I made yesterday. It's made with fabric scraps from the yo-yo coverlet. I used a marker to draw the glasses.

When cutting the circles, I was cutting over a recently-emptied shoebox so that the fabric trash would fall into it. I've been really good with throwing out the fabric trash lately, but the holiday moved trash day from Friday to Monday, so the box is really full. I think I may use more of these pieces before next trash day.

That is fabulous! I agree with you that it is funny that the yo yo was so popular during the Depression when money was so scarce and there is so much waste with the circles. When I am cutting my vintage feedsacks, I keep every tiny scrap and it they are too small to actually use, they go in a glass jar so I can see all the pretty colors. I know... I am crazy!

Is that you with all that lovely blonde hair? Your postcards are always very interesting and charming.

Such a sweet face is your index card, Shasta. It's whimsy makes me smile. I have never seen scraps look so sweet.

This is so cute! What a fun idea! I might try this with my 6-year-old and fabric "trash" as you call it. I bet he'd like playing with the tiny pieces and using an index card makes it a great size.
