Update
It seemed like this quilt might be telling me I am not allowed to make it, but I have decided it is telling me to go off the pattern. I have decided to make the flying geese a different way. I tried one set, that makes four flying geese, wrote down the measurements so I wouldn't forget, and it is working, so I'll make the rest that way. I'm not saying that there is a problem with the pattern - so many people have managed to make this quilt - but apparently it just isn't for me.

Different strokes, for different folks, as they say!
Whatever works for you, has to be the right way!
Thanks for visiting me, & leaving me a comment.
I always make those stars/flying gees with a rectangle & 2 squares...
Oh & I'm not so manic about perfection...
My geese always "fly" crooked, so whatever works...use it!
I do it the way Amy said--this always works, although it wastes a bit of fabric.
I make mine in sets of 4 like you are doing. No waste, easy peasy.
I am so glad to hear that following the pattern doesn't always work just wonderfully for everyone. I always assume that I am the dummy but there are enough times when I'm just sure I did it right. Of course trying a different way then mixes my head up and I sometimes get more confused than ever.
Shasta, thanks for stopping by my blog. I see you are a new blogger! Welcome!
BTW there are sooo many ways to make flying geese, you just have to find the one that works for you at the time. The star blocks look great. keep up the good work!
